My Background / Bio

• Beginning: My musical career began on Christmas day, 1983, when I received my first Guitar at the age of 15.  I was obsessed with music- more specifically Led Zeppelin- and used to pull strings from my socks and pretend I was playing guitar.  The guitar turned out to be more than a gift, but a new way of life, provided a sense of identity and an outlet for my teenage angst/passionate.  Over the years it became my closest confidant propelling me to new adventures and opening my eyes to the beauty of life. 

• Rock/Heavy Metal: I received instructions from various local teachers but advanced so quickly that I was told there is nothing more they could teach me. In this sense, I still consider myself self-taught with my real teachers being the musicians I listen to and mimiced  and on a daily basis: Jimmy Page/Led Zeppelin * Van Halen * Randy Rhodes/Ozzy * Rush * Boston * Iron Maiden * Yngwie Malsteen * Joe Satriani * Larry Carlton * - to name a few.  It is these influences that directed my future studies in Classical & Jazz, but at my core I still am a Rock Guitarist. 

• Classical Guitar: I had the privilege of studying under the tutelage of Julio Prol, a distinguished student of the legendary Andrés Segovia. The rich heritage of classical guitar technique and expression has deeply influenced my teaching approach.

• Jazz Guitar: My exploration of jazz guitar led me to the incredible mentorship of Joe Giglio. The intricate harmonies, improvisation, and soulful melodies of jazz have shaped my understanding of music in profound ways.

Every student is unique, and their musical goals deserve personalized attention. I develop customized lesson programs tailored to your specific needs, interests, and skill level. Whether you want to strum your first chords or dive into advanced techniques, we’ll create a roadmap that aligns with your aspirations.

Specialization

While I enjoy teaching all levels, my heart lies in nurturing beginners. There’s something magical about witnessing a novice guitarist discover the joy of making music. If you’re just starting out, rest assured—I’ve got you covered!  My methods and detailed guidance on the physicality of the instrument provide sound fundamentals for the instrument.

Having grown up immersed in classic rock and heavy metal, I’ve honed my skills across various genres. From soulful ballads to blistering solos, I can play any style of guitar.
